Fairy Cove Silks is an amazingly diverse business . . . stocking into the 1000's of products. Early on, we realized it was easier to 'go with the flow' than to try to restrict. So, yes, we really do stock quite most all these items. We are in a constant state of restocking and reordering, and yes, still expanding. Sometimes it seems like we'll slow down. . . but our passions run deep . . . as it seems, so do our customers' needs!

Here's how our very challenging Inventory Stocking works  around our studio and website . . .

MOST of OUR SITE offers items that are a Click-and-Purchase without telling you how much we have of it available. This is because we believe we can ship your item very quickly. And keeping accurate inventory is something we struggle to keep on top of with our many maintenance chores to monitor the flow of silk in and out. . . . Most likely we have it available and instock.

One way to gauge how likely a color is available is to see how popular or heavily stocked it is. We'll be adding this information into a color code in our colorchart shortly to help you!

Likely an item will ship quickly if it is the type of item we sell a lot of because we may be restocking that item type frequently. Some more specialty items can take longer if we don't have it available to dye. . . this is because there are many steps that go before an item can even be dyed! We import from overseas, we also use several fabric suppliers in addition to our seamstress who works from home and makes a weekly trip to the studio.

Lead times may depend on factors of fabric ordering, sewing is involved, or at what point in the supply cycle you place your order, these variables can turn a 1wk order into three weeks without much difficulty at all. We strive to reduce these times and to always communicate estimated shipping times if they are other than our 'fast customer service' that you can always rely on.

NONSTOCK or INSTOCK categories are for Silks that are our 'house products' mixed with a 'house colorstyles' and it is ready to ship. We usually don't stock the item in the colors you'll see. Instock items are sold at no additional cost.

These are generally offered to all customer groups: patrons, educators and troupes, and perhaps including our wholesale resellers. These items are offered in the store with a full live inventory status so they cannot be oversold.

***If a silk becomes unavailable for some reason, we hope you'll forgive us, as we have a lot of silk moving around. . . the stuff just has a mind of its own! It is prone to walking out the door when people visit, which can wreak havoc with our inventories. . . ***

OOAK categories are for One of a Kind Items we have no immediate plans to replicate and put 'into production'. Usually they are very pretty. Often they are very pretty and I may have a clue how to make it again, but as an artist I may feel more unsure inside or might have to just think harder or feel resulting recreations might be more unpredictable. Often OOAK items are marked up 10% above same product types.

INVENTORY CONTROLLED ITEMS Some items are items we stock but are low in availability to dye at the moment - either it will be awhile before we have more, are making changes to the product or such. So we add live inventory to help ease these issues.

You will be able to see exactly how many are available. When you place it into your cart, the item will not display anymore to other shoppers if there is only 1 of it. If you leave your shopping cart without checking out, it will time out and return items to the store. Sometimes the store is a bit finicky about this, so I have not been in a big hurry to inventory control all of our store.

SALE ITEMS are replenished into the store regularly. We try to add items every week. These are items generally marked down 15% from retail because they are second quality for one reason or another. Depending on what makes something 2nd quality will affect how deeply discounted it may - or may not be.

MEAG's TOP PICK's are some of my favorite items or products I wish to feature to buyers. This is a new way of introducing customers to the site of what I would like them to take a look at. We have an extensive site. . . it is hard to give all of it equal favor.
